Basis of the edition

The present edition is based on the photographs available at the Mainzer Photoarchiv of the Hethitologie Portal Mainz, as well as the available hand-copies and relevant secondary literature up to 2019. When the original manuscripts have been collated, this is noted in the commentary.

Commentary

Collated (March 2020). Fragment of a presumably two-columned tablet (max preserved thickness 32 mm, close to the lower edge), with the reverse uninscribed up to a few signs, probably belonging to the colophon (omitted in the copy by L. Rost). Also, part of the lower edge is preserved (not marked as such in the copy). Thus, it can be reasonably assumed that the partially preserved parts of the text belong to columns i and iv respectively.

This fragment preserves descriptions of several female statuettes and some information on their location as well as on the state and renovation of shrines (note the reference to a “pure cella” which is said to be “open” in obv. 5′; for comparable passages, see Hagenbuchner-Dresel 2007: 354 with fn. 13).
